O futuro das Smart Mobs e o surgimento da Geração Txt

entrevista a Howard Rheingold em que o autor desenvolve alguns dos pontos abordados no seu mais recente livro
"Smart Mobs". Apesar de ser já de Fevereiro, esta peça explica bem o seu pensamento. Na introdução desta obra, Rheingold afirma reconhecer uma revolução quando está perante ela. Neste caso, trata-se da Geração Txt, abrangendo os miúdos que têm vindo a crescer nos últimos anos lidando diariamente com as mensagens SMS e utilizando os seus telemóveis, dispositivos móveis e blogs para comunicar, conviver em comunidade e organizarem-se a si própiros. O autor debate casos particulares em que se nota mais acentuadamente esta tendência e a mudança massiva que vem a caminho, em consequência da generalização destas novas tecnologias.
"I think both blogging and picture phones are very powerful phenomena in themselves, but when you combine the ability of anyone on the street to send media from where they are to anyone else in the world through the Web, I think that it portends significant changes, though it's rudimentary today.
I also think the simple combination of GPS and the broadband mobile Internet will enhance this revolution significantly. You don't even need to add that much broadband just to know where your buddies are, or how to get wherever it is you're going. I think that one simple thing, location awareness, could have a massive impact on the way humans communicate."
