Nicholas Blachford esteve presente nos três dias - de 10 a 13 de Julho - de realização da LinuxTag, a maior feira europeia sobre Linux, que decorreu no Karlsruhe Kongresszentrum, na Alemanha, e aproveitou para escrever uma crónica/reportagem da sua presença no evento para a OSNews, acompanhada de seis páginas de imagens. Contando com 150 expositores e cerca de 20 mil visitantes, a feira foi marcada por um espírito de convergência entre o mundo empresarial e o meio comunitário, fazendo juz ao slogan "where .com meets .org". Esta reportagem e sobretudo as fotografias levaram-me a colocar a questão: Para quando uma feira ou LAN Party exclusivamente dedicada ao Linux e ao software livre em Portugal bem organizada e à escala nacional?
"LinuxTag, Europe's largest Linux show was held from the 10th to the 13th of July 2003 in Karlsruhe Kongresszentrum, Germany. Myself and a colleague (Debian developer Sven Luther) were there for 3 of those days. The organisers took to the free software philosophy with some enthusiasm, the entrance is free but the downloadable ticket is supplied with LaTex source code! Then again this is the same organisation which, knowing German law didn't allow you to threaten legal action without proof told SCO to put up or shut up, SCO promptly shut up."
